What flowers are already blooming in February?

What Blooms in February (Witch Hazel)

In February, it can still be the middle of winter (although in recent years that doesn't seem to be the case anymore…). You might not immediately think that there are still many plants that bloom as early as February.

Fortunately, there are still plenty of options!

Our Favorite Winter-Blooming Plants for February

Fortunately, there are still quite a few plants that bloom this month. Our favorites are definitely the early-blooming ones flower bulbs, such as crocuses (Crocus) and snowdrops (Galanthus), grape hyacinths (Muscari), and early daffodils (Narcissus).

The many different cultivars of Helleborus orientalis (Eastern hellebore) and Primula (primrose) are the most beautiful perennials for this month. By the way, we’re talking about the natural-looking variety of Primula (not all those bright colors you often see at the garden center).

In our opinion, the most beautiful shrubs and trees that bloom in February are witch hazel (Hamamelis), early-blooming camellia varieties, Viburnum (both tinus and bodnantense), and of course we mustn’t forget the winter cherry: Prunus subhirtella autumnalis, with its gorgeous blossoms!

Winter jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum) and Clematis cirrhosa are, in our opinion, the most beautiful climbing plants that bloom as early as February.
