5-Minute Garden Chores You Can Do in March:
Pruning
A lot of pruning doesn't actually have to take that long. Especially when it comes to smaller plants. Of course, you can also just do one at a time. The following types are easy to prune right now.
- Annabelle hydrangea
- Panicle hydrangea
- Roses
- Ornamental Grass
- Butterfly Bush
Topping
In addition to actual pruning, there are also several types of plants that are ideal for topping right now. This helps you create bushy (well-branched) plants with good flowering.
- Prune Garden Geraniums (Pelargoniums)
- Cut off the spent flowers from farmer's hydrangeas
- You should also cut back the spent flowers on flower bulbs (it's best to leave the foliage in place)
Other Small Garden Chores
- Sweep the patio and/or the paths
- Make labels for plants you've just propagated, or that you'll be sowing soon
- Take pictures of everything that's already blooming and growing again
- Enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea in your garden (do you also often forget to just take a moment to relax in the garden?)
